Zen and the Art of Piano Sales

It has been 39 years since my first day as a piano sales person. I still remember wondering if I could actually make a living and support a family doing something I found so enjoyable! I love to play the piano for people and for me the process of finding just the right instrument for someone is a great joy.

Many piano retailers use a negative approach which has been handed down through the years. The idea, of course, is to discredit the competition. What a waste of time! Negativity is not my style.

To me the “art” of selling pianos happens when the shopping experience is very comfortable, relaxed and always positive. Often, after spending a little time with a customer, the right piano seems to present itself. It is always a joy to facilitate a happy selection.

Buying a piano is a significant, life changing event. I’m honored that so many people have allowed me to participate.
